OK, so for the first time in a little while, transfer calls have come and gone and I'm actually staying put! Imagine that! I said goodbye to Elder Pinto mere hours ago, and Wednesday morning he's gonna be headed back to San Diego, where he'll have 2 weeks with his whole family before his little brother leaves on his mission. But look at me... getting ahead of myself. Lemme tell you about the week:
Monday was a lazy p-day. For Pinto's last we played lots of RISK and Monopoly, both of which I lost. :( Oh well, life goes on right? Tuesday I got to hold a tarantula named Heffa (the pet of one of our investigators). I'll work on getting a picture up for you. Tuesday we were also able to meet with the Joy family. The parents have been less-active for a little while, but a series of events have brought them back to the church. None of their children have been baptized, so we started teaching them and they're going to ba baptized this Friday. The ward has shown an outpouring of support which is always awesome. Wednesday we had a great district meeting, and Elder Wolfley (our DL) said something that I need to work on... focus. He identified all of the times throughout the day we have to ourselves to think: studies, in the shower, on our bikes, going to sleep, while I'm jogging, etc. The list goes on & on. What I think about in those moments will define my mission. Will I think about girls or worldly songs or home, or will I direct my thoughts towards the Savior, His gospel, and teaching it to the people of Orange Park? So I've been studying myself and my thoughts and trying to focus more than I ever have before! The Lord has definitely blessed us this week. We found some SWEET people!!! One I'd like to share is Amanda. We knocked on her door and started talking. We quickly found out that she already has a Book of Mormon, and her & her husband are reading it regularly along with the Bible. (!!!) There are people that wouldn't read if I begged on my knees and paid them a million dollars, and these people are already doing it themselves! She even committed herself to come to church!!! Isn't the Lord AWESOME!!! Whew! So, with Pinto leaving this week, there were lots of people wanting to feed him, whether it be investigators or members. It seems that my quest for rock hard abs seems to be undercut all the time. Oh well... food is too good! That's the problem! This week we had Mexican, Japanese, Korean (ps to the Imagawa's... I actually had bul-go-gee... AND LIKED IT!!!... aren't you proud?!), and lots of other stuff. But to make up for that... something is screwed up on my bike, so it seems I've had to pedal twice as hard to get anywhere. Luckily it has a 2-year warranty, so I dropped it off this morning. I'm going to be spending the next few days with the elders in Fleming Island (who have a car!!!) so I won't be needing it until Thursday. Thursday 2 big things are happening... our 2-man apartment is going to become a 4-man, so I'm trying to figure out where to put all the extra stuff; and I'm going to be training again... my 3rd greenie!!! So that's gonna be fun! In closing, I'll tell ya about Friday night. Our ward had an adult pinewood derby social. The only rule was... just gravity. (no engines!) Other than that... it could be as heavy as you wanted and you could shave down the wheels or whatever. Obviously Pinto & I had no time to build a car, but a member of the ward that couldn't be there ended up asking me to race his car. I tinkered with it a little bit more, and ended up getting 3rd place!!! Well... this has been a long post. Oh well... deal with it!!! ;) Love y'all... have a great week! -Elder Borgia
