Well, transfer calls came this past Saturday. I didn't even mention it in last weeks update, since I figured I'd stay while Thacker left (he's been here 7 1/2 months). Well, we're BOTH leaving!!! Pretty crazy, huh? That's going to be 2 6-week areas in a row! Elder Reid is also getting transferred, meaning that 3 out of the 4 elders in our ward are leaving (all that's left will be Elder Finch). I'll definitely keep you posted. Anyhoo... it's been a pretty good week. Monday was a pretty chill p-day, we worked out at the Rec Center for a few hours. My goal is to be thin & buff by the time I return home... so we'll see how that turns out. We went to all 3 district meetings this week to present a training based on what Elder Gonzalez talked about a week or so ago. Our zone is lagging a bit in comparison with the others, so we're really trying to "rally the troops". On Thursday we went on a trade-off with Will (who you'll remember was baptized last week). It was SO COOL to take him teaching with us. He's in Arizona for the next 3 weeks, so by the time he's back we'll be long gone. That one experience alone totally made this area. Every area has its quirks and memories, but I will always treasure the experience of teaching Will, and how the Lord really led us to Him when He was prepared.
I've been thinking a lot the past few weeks about vision, in terms of how it relates to faith. In Ether 12:18-19 (which is in the Book of Mormon) it mentions having an "eye of faith", much the same as it speaks of in Matthew 6:21-22. To have faith in something, we must visualize that thing actually happening... we must even become preoccupied with it. So it is in this great work... the leaders of the Church, through Elder Gonzalez, have commissioned us to triple the number of people we bring unto Christ through baptism, which would be roughly 1,000 by the end of 2008. It's going to happen. All we as missionaries need to do is serve with our might and rely on the Lord and He'll take care of the rest.
I love y'all very much. Hope to hear from you soon!
