Where's the road at?!

So it's been a pretty good week. Monday we just kind of lazed about the apartment and made dorky videos that will probably eventually be used as blackmail against me. Tuesday was zone conference in Kingsland, which was really good. We talked a lot about the section in PMG (Preach My Gospel) about how to begin teaching. It was amazing, and I sat there wondering how I missed that stuff for 16 months of my mission. Oh well, I guess I have 8 more months to make the most of it. Afterwards we had to wait around because the leadership was having a meeting and we were our district leader's ride, so we just hung around with a few other elders. Elder Oberg and I got all caught up on how life's been going (he's my bud from the MTC that I've barely seen since). Also, a shout out to Sister Newman (President Newman's wife), who I found out reads this each week. Later on that day we were talking to a guy that was a media referral and we got SO frustrated. Our conversation kept going around in circles. We got to talking about modern-day prophets, and he kept asking "Why do I need to pray to Monson?" to which we'd reply, "you don't pray through a prophet... you pray through Christ" to which he'd say "well I'll keep on praying through Jesus and you can keep praying to Monson." (??!!) AACCKK!!! So that was fun & exciting. Wednesday we had a pretty cool experience. We were tracting and a lady opened the door and said "You don't have to introduce yourselves to me... I know who you are. You guys find me wherever I go in this country!" Her name, we later learned, is Robin, and she's a less-active member of the church, although she still has a very strong testimony. We talked to her for a little while and we'll be going back to see her. Thursday evening was fun. Early this week I bought one of those GPS navigation things because I was tired of getting lost all of the time. I set it to take us the shortest route, because of our miles limitations, and a disclaimer came up that said that the shortest route might not always be the safest route. I was like "OK, whatever". It wasn't kidding! This thing tried to take us on roads that said "No Tresspassing", through fences, and jumping railroad tracks. (we found safe alternatives to all of these, I will have you know!) Friday we had an experience where I wonder what some people are thinking. We taught a guy (who was slightly intoxicated, which might explain this) named Joe, who seemed pretty interested. As we closed our discussion, I asked him "Will you read & pray about the Book of Mormon". Pretty direct, don't you think? Not a lot of room for tangents? Wrong!!! His answer "Before I answer you that, lemme ask you a question... what do you think about the anti-Christ?" (?!) Where the heck did that come from?! So yes, that was my FANTASTIC week. I hope y'alls was equally amazing. Love ya! -Elder Borgia
