Yessum... I'm back in good 'ole Georgia... Brunswick to be exact. Details later. But first, I gotta tell you about my last few days in Lake City. Monday we played some Basketball with our district and the singles branch. Even I played, which must have been a sight to see... me jiggling all over the court! (Sorry for that mental image!) One of the other elders got elbowed and his eyebrow ended up splitting, so I drove him down to Lake Butler where there's a member that's a doctor. He got stitched on his kitchen table! My job was to hold the flashlight. I've never had a problem looking at other people's blood, and at first I was fine as I watched him sew up his face. However, a few minutes into it I got WAY woozy and had to sit down for the rest of the experience. Another exciting thing happened. So we were a bit late coming home, so I was driving a bit too fast on the way back. A cop passed me, and I saw him turn around in my rear-view mirror. Well, there was a bend in the road, and so stoopid me decided to quickly take a random side-street and evade the po-po. Well, that was to no avail, and so I found myself pulled over on a random side-street. GREAT! So the officer came to the window, and did his usual thing. He asked what business I had on that street and I flat-out told him I'd just been trying to avoid him. He asked me to step out of the vehicle, and to stand in front of his car, where he proceeded to lecture me. However, he recognized us as missionaries, and because of that chose not to write me a ticket. I was SO relieved. And... I will have you know... I have slowed down since. Anyway... a lot of the week was spent saying goodbyes. I got to know and love a lot of people during my 10 1/2 months in Lake City. Thursday morning came, I said the final goodbyes to the elders in my apt, and headed to Jacksonville. The meeting was good. President Newman always has something profound to say. Then he announced the transfers, and that I would be going to Brunswick 1st ward with Elder Amesse (pronounced "aims"). Once again, we whitewashed in (that's 4 times out of my 5 areas!) Elder Amesse is pretty cool. He just finished serving for 6 weeks with Elder Christensen (who's now training!). I can tell that Amesse and I are going to get along pretty well. Basically... take me and make me shorter, and mexican, and more spontaneous... and you have Elder Amesse. He's from Long Beach, CA, and he's been on his mission for 5 months. Hopefully we'll be able to stay together for at least 3 months! The area is pretty sweet. It's a car area, and we have a SWEET new 2009 Corolla (don't ask me how we have a 2009 in June of 2008... we just do) that still has the new-car smell. However, we share the car with another companionship. It's not too bad though... we're only on biked 2 days a week. Still... Saturday I rode a bike for the first time since August, and my legs hate me for it. Our apartment is pretty sweet. It's HUGE! We have 7 different chairs as well as a lime-green 70's couch, all for just us 2! We even have a washer & dryer! The only downside is that it's on the 3rd floor, which makes for lots of stair climbing. Our ward is pretty sweet. The bishop is very missionary minded, and is pretty straight-forward about it. I just have to buckle down and start over with learning some names. Our teaching pool is a bit small right now, but we can tell that it's ready to EXPLODE! We set a goal to baptize 14 people in the next 6 weeks, and we know that the Lord can do it. So yeah... that was my sweet week, and that's the 411 on the SWEET area. I'll make sure to include my new address so y'all can bombard me with letters... or maybe not. Anyhoo... Love ya! -Elder Borgia
