Lofty Goals

Well summer is coming back. No good. As are the mosquitos. Double no good. However... the faster this summer starts, the faster it will be over. Really, I'm not to sad about the heat, but the humidity is ridiculous! Still, we're lucky to have a car, with A/C, so I don't have too much room to complain. So this week we heard that the RLDS church (or Community of Christ, now) has released what they say is an actual photograph of Joseph Smith. The church hasn't validated it yet, but still... I thought the picture looked pretty sweet. Wednesday we helped an investigator who's remodeling his house. My job was to sand the extra grout off of the tile in the shower, while teaching a Muslim about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Can I multitask or what?! Afterwards I got an adjustment from Bishop Morse, who's a chiropractor. My back cracked so much, it was amazing. I literally felt a few inches taller. Then that afternoon was president interviews, and the AP's gave a SWEET training that got me all pumped up and ready to change the world. We talked about how, as we exercise faith, we can be tools in the hands of the Lord to bring forth miracles. We discussed how an important part of exercising faith is setting goals and then pleading to the Lord for help. Elder Christensen and I have set a goal of baptizing 10 people in the next 2 weeks. A lofty goal? You betcha. Unrealistic? Absolutely not. I believe that the God who created the universe can bring 10 people to baptism. However, we're going to work like we've never worked before to show Him we're serious. Wasn't General Conference amazing?! My 3 favorite talks were Elder Christofferson's about spiritual rebirth, President Uchtdorf's about staying on course, and of course, Elder Hollands domination about continuing revelation. I highly recommend it, especially to all southern baptist preachers! Anyhoo... I'd better get going. Transfer calls are this Saturday, and I'm probably outta here, so I'll keep you posted. Love ya! -Elder Borgia
