So transfer calls came, and believe it or not both Elder Christensen and I are staying another 6 weeks, which will be 6 months of serving together here in Lake City and a total of 9 months for me in Lake City. That means that I'll spend at least 1/4 of my mission with Elder Christensen! Actually, our whole apartment will be staying! Anyhoo... this was a fun week. We started it off with a cool storm... even a tornado warning! Sadly (?!) nothing exciting happened. Wednesday night we had one of the coolest lessons of my mission, because I saw this family we've been teaching really take a hold of the gospel. The Spirit was SO different in their house right away. It's been so cool to see them come full-circle from where we met them to where they're at today. Thursday I discovered another weakness of mine... steering a forklift. It was just one of those push ones, but it was going all over the place! We also met a pretty funny guy this week. He was drunk, and trying to light the filter side of his cigarette while he told us about how following Jesus meant we shouldn't drink or smoke. On friday night I experienced another first. Some friends of ours, the Parkers, have cows, and one of theirs had a calf on Thursday. Apparently the mom got a pinched nerve or something so it's temporarily paralyzed, meaning the calf had to be bottle fed, and so we went out to help.
We did that Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday night again. Saturday night my job was to stand behind the calf so it wouldn't back away, which leads me to another first... the first time I've been crapped on by a calf.
It wasn't all that bad... I just felt something really warm squished against my leg. Definitely not something I imagined when I got a mission call to Florida, oh well. That night we also had a bonfire where I burned my shirt (a month late).
So that was my fantastic week. Love y'all! -Elder Borgia
